CŒUR DE MARIE prolonge le travail de Marie-Mam Sai Bellier, amorcé lors de sa résidence au CERFAV et en écho avec L’AMOUR EN CAGE, présenté au CAC Passages, à Troyes, en janvier 2025.
Cette installation suspendue pensée comme un hommage à la fleur éponyme rassemble une série de pièces mêlant fer et verre pour composer un langage visuel crypté, mutant, inspiré de références de l’Art Nouveau et défendant une vision contemporaine du memento mori. Chaque œuvre, tantôt issue de commandes de design graphique, tantôt conçue pour l’occasion, devient ici un symbole, un signe, ou plutôt un des mots de cette phrase qu’il nous revient de déchiffrer dans l’espace. Quel qu’en soit le sens, elle parle en tous cas de l’amour, de la mémoire, et de la mort.
Si cette recherche est consacrée à une nouvelle approche de l’ornement, incarnée, émue et symbolique, si elle porte la trace d’un rapport particulier aux arts du feu, elle témoigne surtout du regard amoureux que la typographe a posé sur l’héritage de l’Art Nouveau dans la région. Elle est le fruit de collaborations où l’art, l’artisanat et le design s’entrelacent avec le texte pour questionner d’autres formes d’écriture. Au-delà des mots et de l’alphabet latin, ces sculptures-idéogrammes encapsulent des histoires mais peuvent être lues de multiples manières. Cette résidence au CERFAV a marqué un tournant dans la pratique de Marie-Mam Sai Bellier en ce qu’elle lui a permis d’aller vers une approche sensorielle, intersectionnelle, ornementale et décolonisée, où l’art dit décoratif s’inspire également de systèmes non-occidentaux.
